It arrived quickly but the 21 led light didn't work. I also bought a 9 led light that works fine.

This is an awesome flashlight that we bought for camping! So far, it works wonderfully and is very bright!... so bright that I warn you, when you put the batteries in and turn it on... point directly aways from you!!! Great little flashlight!

this little things uses 3 AAA battery, but let me tell you it is very bright, would not recommend puting it in someones face, but when comes to night time, the distance and the way it lights overdues any regular flash light. its a good buy if you camp, or just need a small light with a big visibility

I bought two of these lights to keep around the house. They are reasonably priced enough, as well as solid and bright. But in a very short time both of them began to flicker incessantly upon lighting up. I end up shaking and cursing them each time they're used. And it happens no matter how tight the screw on cap is. If just one of them flickered I would just figure its a bad one that got away. But both of them? I would definitely NOT recommend these. Spend a little more and save yourself a lot of aggravation...
Update: I have had them both for quite some time now and they still flicker. However I felt obligated to add that in all honesty they stop flickering after seeming to "warm up". That is, after being on a few minutes they can be turned on and off without them flickering. Also, the lights last quite a while on the original batteries. Mine have still not been replaced since purchasing them. I will let the individual decide for themselves if they feel the lights are a worthwhile investment...

The item throw a rather bright and disperse light. Perfect for enclosed space, like working inside a computer for example (which is why I bought it). There is one nagging problem (not big, but nagging). There is no way to focus or scatter the light. My Maglite can do this by using a lens in front of the bulb. The lens can be moved foward or back (by a screw effect) to adjust the area of coverage for the light using a screw. I believe that this product can benefit greatly from such a simple innovation. Second recommendation, instead of 3 batteries, make it a 4 AAA design so I can use an entire pack at a time (instead of having to leave 1 cell in the pack).

MAGLITE SP2209H 2-AA Cell Mini LED Flashlight with Holster, Gray Review
2009-10-23
By Jesse (Pennsylvania)
I'm sure as most of us know Maglite is well known for their simple understated flashlight design that's durable and well built. These U.S. machined aluminum lights lasts for years, the only thing that ever needs replacing is the krypton bulbs (I usually burn them out by dropping the flashlight) or a new set of batteries. The o-rings do a good job of sealing out water, making the light good for emergency situations. Maglites are the ones I go for when I need a flashlight I know won't quite on me. Most of us have our Maglites "borrowed" and never get them returned which is the only reason we have to get a new one, when the borrower sees the quality they just by chance forget to return the light. I will admit Maglite was a little slow in getting into the LED market, and even still they're lagging behind when it comes to the LEDs they put in their lights, but in the end it IS a Mag that has a decently powered LED in it. I read on the Maglite website that the krypton bulb of a Maglite Mini was supposed to be about 15.2 lumens, and from what I read the weakest Luxeon Rebel LED was 65 lumens at 350mA (a typical AA battery is 2400 mA, so it's quite possible the light is higher), so the bulb is definitely brighter than a krypton bulb. The battery life is supposedly ten hours, which is also higher than the krypton bulb. I believe there is a capacitor in the light that provides a constant flow of energy to the bulb (hence the slight flickering of the bulb which I find to be annoying) so that the light output will be the same until the battery dies (also why it shuts off so abruptly). This is a pro and a con at the same time. The light brightness stays steady and usable until the battery is dead, but when it dies it DIES, leaving you literally in the dark. There should be an indicator on the light, perhaps a small red light that comes on when the battery is almost dead. Other than that (and like I said the light flickering from the electronics storing energy and releasing it to make constant lumen ammounts) it works very well. Something else I didn't know about until just a while ago was the 100% brightness, 25% brightness, and flashing modes. I had read on the package about it but was confused how to obtain the modes, but after some reading I found out you twist the cap to ON, then off, and you get 25% light, then off and ON again to get flashing. Quite handy, but the documentation wasn't very good. As far as the light itself goes it lasts a long time, it's brighter than a normal Mag Mini, and it has Mags years of experience behind it. Great light that I would recommend to anyone.

By Mike (Ottawa, Ontario Canada)
I expected a better flashlight, given my experience with the older non-LED versions. The flashlight supposedly has a number of modes (flashing, dim, bright), but in practice the twist control is too hard to use in any mode except bright. The focusing is poor, there is a large black spot in the center of the beam. Wait until they develop a better product.

I bought 2 of these flashlights, and both stopped working within 2 days of purchase. Why can't maglite use the rear push switch like so many others?

Love the gray color, size and light weight. I think this 2 cell puts out as bright a light as my 3 cell. I presume the batteries in the 3 cell might last a little longer, but it is an awkward size to carry on my belt. Anyway, this little 2 cell LED model is great!
I don't remember the Amazon description saying anything about a selector "switch" that allows you to choose full power beam, reduced (battery saving) beam, steady flashing light, or a flashing SOS (3 shorts, 3 longs, 3 shorts). When I read that on the packaging, I couldn't find a "switch". Just by accident, I found that by turning the light off and back on changes the setting. The reduced beam is plenty bright for most needs and is supposed to extend the battery life significantly. I presume all these 2 cell LED Mini Mags have that feature, but maybe it was just mine. If they all DO have that feature, Amazon should surely say so, because it is a great selling point.
I see some reviewers try to compare Maglites to other brands; but some of the other brands they mention cost triple what I paid for this little Mini Mag gem. In this price range, I don't think you can beat it. Buy several, because they make welcome gifts (just ask my daughter, ha).

Great little light, super bright and the 25% brightness setting is just right for general lighting. Great on conserving battery power they last forever, and the adjustable light beam works as it should compared to after market conversions!

MAGLITE ST3D016 3-D Cell LED Flashlight, Black Review
2009-10-26
By Paul C (New Jersey)
I've had 3-D Cell Maglites for years. 2 of them (because they last forever). I stopped using them in favor of the little AAA powered 9 LED cheap handhelds for day to day flashlite needs. I recently decided to get a 3 D cell LED Maglite to take the dog out at night in the winter months. I wanted AAA brightness and longevity with better lite throwing / focus power / with something that has some heft to it.
I am EXTREMELY pleased with my purchase of the LED version of the Maglite. If you liked your old Maglite, and were concerned about the LED version measuring up. You will be very happy.

I bought this product to use at my work and its just great. Very durable and bright. I own other MagLites with the tradition kypton bulbs (Which work decent for general purposes)but this LED one takes the gold. Good on battery life and doesnt dim much when batteries are low. Overall I love this product and the price of $25 is a steal. I recommend this flashlight to anyone.

We just got it today, but can tell already it is what we need. We have a triple city lot and we have a dog that goes crazy when she sees things in the open lot area of our property. We leave her out at night and like to make sure she does "her business" before we call her back in. So, even though we just got it today we already know it is going to do the job for us. Angel spotted a rabbit tonight at dusk and got fixated on it. We wanted to take her out around 8:30 and had to be sure the rabbit did not make it into the yard where the house is. The flashlight shone a nice bright light that picked up the rabbits eyes in the far corner of the lot. We have been using a Makita flashlight I got my husband more than 20 years ago, that flashlight lost the extra battery by no longer being able to hold a charge so I looked online and found this one. We compared the Maglite to the Makita and this new one is a much stronger and brighter beam than the Makita. It has more of a white light than a yellow one of the Makita

I read all the reviews and did a little research and decided to buy this flashlight and I am not sorry that I did. In fact, my husband liked it so much I ordered him one and he loves it. I wish the company included instructions with the flashlight, they don't tell you how long to charge it the first time, I charged it for over 24 hours and it is working great. The light is really bright and lights up all the dark and scary places in our yard.I would buy this again.

This is the KING of flashlights. I had streamlight flashlight before but honestly Dorcy 41-4299 is much better than streamlight.WHY ?????
1: More Lumens (220)
2: Over 50 percent cheaper
3: Much lighter than streamlight or meglight
4: Comes with A/C(house) and D/C(car) chargers (streamlight/meglight you have to pay saperately for the chargers)
5: Stylish, brighter and stronger then its comparators.

This lantern is very powerful considering it's size, which is, in my opinion way smaller than it looks in the picture, it was a good surprise and it makes this lantern an even better one. It's like pocket size(maybe even smaller), perfectly fits anywhere. I bought it because I'm getting an UV/blacklight tattoo and I want to be able to see it. I turned off the lights and turned the lantern on, pointed at the bottles of UV ink (I don't have the tattoo on me yet) and it looks amazing.
This lantern really works and I doubt you can find something better for the pricce. I'm happy I bought this. If you need a bigger lantern I wouldn't recommend this one though, it's really small.

I bought this one to replace one that didn't seem to work for me. This one works fine. Definitely shows up where my cat had his "accidents" when he was sick. Even if it isn't pitch black in the room the glow shows up very well. Have never used one of these before but would say this one really did the job I needed it for.

Works fine, does what I need it to do, It does not come with batteries but don't let that not be the reason to buy it, strong and durable, it works very well within a three to four foot area, any more then that you may need something stronger, overall a very nice item.

Smith & Wesson Galaxy 13 LED Flashlight (10 White LED & 3 Red LED) Review
2009-09-08
By Mute208 (Bay Area, CA)
When I began to look for a new flashlight, I found a strange world of flashlight gurus I had never known. There is a large community of flashlight collectors that are experts in everything flashlight. Alas, I am not a part of that community but still feel I purchased a great flashlight, albeit not exactly what I wanted.
What I was looking for was a better task light than what I had in my single LED Inova flashlight. I mainly used the Inova to work in or around my computer. I thought that the 13 LED's on the Smith & Wesson would help illuminate much more of the inside of my PC case and make it easier to work in. The S&W does that and more. But it wasn't exactly what I thought it was when I bought it. It is significantly bigger than I expected it to be. It is quite bright and now I realize that it is versatile enough to be my main home flashlight. I still keep my baseball bat-sized Mag by my bed however.
The 3 red LED's are fantastic for night vision without disturbing others too much. I sometimes use the red LED's when I'm looking for something in the room at night and don't want to bother my wife, who cannot sleep well unless it's pitch black. The construction of the flashlight is very durable and when screwing the battery compartment back on, it creates a strong seal that feels very solid. The S&W takes 3 AAA batteries, which you insert into a separate cartridge and then you drop the cartridge into the barrel of the flashlight. Kinda like putting bullets in, go figure. I picked this S&W over others because I liked the 30-hour run time. More LED's would've meant lower run times and so for my needs, this S&W was a better fit. Some higher end flashlights that use CREE LED's, require the use of lithium batteries and the run time on those are fairly short but make up for it with significantly better performance.
The bottom of the barrel is flat so you can use it as a candle and it has an anti-roll design so it stays put on flat surfaces. The holster is a nice bonus but since I don't travel with it, I tend not to use it.
LED flashlights are all the rage. Even MAG makes LED flashlights I've noticed and you can buy Nite Ize replacement LED kits for them. The S&W has joined my collection of flash lights and has become to go-to light for a majority of my needs. It feels solid, performs well, is a good value and has an excellent, lifetime warranty. I don't know what else you could ask for really.

This flashlight is great. It's light, relatively small, and there's one button to turn on white lights and another button to turn on the red lights. I always use it for camping and the red light button is pretty slick when I'm looking for something in my tent in the middle of the night but I don't want to blind myself with the white light. Great light! I'm a fan.

By Richardooh! (Maryland, USA)
This is a nicely built light. It feels solid when held. I like the holster that comes with it. I taught it cool to have the pouch for the extra batteries. The switches are in the right place for one hand operations. The red light feels adequate. The biggest let down with this light is the LED white light. It is white alright but not bright. I read somewhere it is only 20 Lumen, that is not bright for a high priced LED flash light. There is another comparable LED flashlight Coleman Cree XLamp XR-E LED Multi-Color Flashlight, 3 "AAA" that comes stocked with 115 Lumens for cheaper and also has an extra green light for map reading. so you get more for less price. I would say those interested in the S&W should also consider the coleman. I am a pilot and taught the S&W flashlight could be used for night aircarft walk around but I was wrong.

This light is a great general use light. I like the fact that it is small, rugged, and has long life on a single AA. Does not throw very far and has a blueish, almost purple tint to it. Not very bright in most lighting situations. Great for general use and fairly bright on dark nights.
2009-09-28
By Cisco Kid (Wilton, CT, USA)
Others have noted the blue spot in the middle of the beam, it's almost purple on mine; slightly annoying, but not the end of the world. Very nicely machined, smooth finish, rock solid. Far superior quality to my Ultrafire C3 (1xAA) which failed completely in a few weeks. AA's are cheap and readily available. On-off twist takes 2 hands, but simple and reliable. Exlnt value for $$. Overall highly recommend, would buy again; in fact, will probably buy a couple more.

I walk my two dogs early every morning, usually before sun up, and this light is with me every day. It is easy to use, simply twist to turn on/off, and has good heft. Since I have to control two dogs while using it, it is important that it is easy to hold and totally reliable. I use it for one or two minutes at a time, virtually every day, and am very impressed at how long the single AA battery lasts--I have have been using it continuously for several years. I also own Fenix, Streamlight, Princeton Tec, and LED Lenser lights, but the Gerber beats them all in this particular day to day use.

By R.D. (N.C.)
This little light is of very good quality, and I was suprised at the area of coverage of the beam! It does not set the night on fire, but at a normal operating range within several feet, it casts a wide "moon-light" circle of very usable and pleasant light for pretty much what you would need it for.
In total darkness, the light actually illuminates a whole (household) room! I believe everyone could definately benefit from one (or more) of these!

By Ron PA
First time I used it I knocked it off my cap bill and it fell 4 feet onto some loose gravel and went out and no amount of shaking and twisting would get it back on again. I was pissed that it was so fragile and was all set to return it and write up a bad review when I thought to try another battery first and it blinked right back on. It was the energizer battery that had somehow broken from that little bump. I'm sticking to rayovacs now.
That aside, it's a good little light; I was out building a buddy's deck until well after dark when I decided I needed something like this and the tasklight is made for just that sort of thing with a bright, broad beam and a handy cap-bill clip. It's now a permanent pocket resident and it shows no desire to escape like those little micro-maglites always do or turn itself on like every push-button light I ever had has done.
Note: To clear up confusion from old reviews, there's only one way to turn the lite on and off now and that's by twisting the end cap.

I am glad to have come across this flashlight. What attracted me to this item is that it operates on single AAA battery and that the light is white. I liked it even more when I got my hands on it and saw how compact it is and that the light is indeed bright. I have been bringing it with me ever since as I normally go home really late at night.

This light is a great value around $14. Very bright beam with no gaps in a tiny size. I own a SF as well and I will say it isn't quite as bright but it also doesn't burn through batteries like the SF does, pricey batteries. A 12 pack of SF batteries cost me as much as one Streamlight and running a restaurant I use a light daily to check under tables and such for debris. This light will save me a fortune in batteries.
2009-10-06
By Frank Snyder (Wilkes-Barre, PA)
You will not believe just how bright this thing is. The beam is almost fluid like, with no "dead spots" in the pattern. The range is incredible, for something the size of your finger. Just use it around someone, and, see if they don't ask what kind of light it is. It is made to survive most all of life's little surprises, and, is totally waterproof to boot (believe me). I need a light I can count on, and require it to be small enough to carry at all times, this, by far,is the best light I have purchased, all others, including my Pelican Xenon (short bulb life but nice light), are relegated to the "drawer".

I bought this to search a treeline at 100 meters from my house at night. I was expecting to only see relections of animal eyes at that distance. However, the beam is wide enough and strong enough to identify the type of animal lurking in the treeline. Very useful to know what's out there before venturing out with my dog at night. It seems to be a very well made flashlight. I'm using Ray-O-Vac alkaline batteries and don't know if that matters for brightness.

Anyone whose life or safety, depends upon their ability to light up the night, will want a professional grade product. My "work-horse" is a Streamlight SL-20X, w/ a SL-35X lamp, throwing out 40,000 candle power. Exactly what I need to be able to see someone trying to run from me or hide in the shadows. For close quarters, I prefer the Streamlight Stinger w/ a Terralux LED upgrade package. To back them up, I keep a Surefire 9P modified to chamber 4 CR123 batteries and fire a 12V Xenon bulb. In my toolbox, for use when I'm crawling in sub-basements, attics, & under cars, I keep a Streamlight SL-20XP LED & Streamlight PolyStinger LED.
Starting to get the idea that I won't leave anything stock or OEM? Can't wait to hear about how I added "more power" mods to my car, my gun, my computer, my gold teeth.......even my jeans sag more than the next guy!
Now lets talk about the Maglite. Sort of like stepping down from a muscle car to a Honda, right? I've also got a set of Snap-On tools, but none-the-less still buy junk from Harbor Freight.
A couple of weeks ago, I found an old Maglite in my garage. Had it from when I was a kid. The batteries had exploded and leaking acid ruined the entire sleeve & switch assembly. Since I had a sense of humor, and an extra $4 in "forever" stamps, I wrapped this thing up in a Streamlight box and sent it back to the Maglite warranty center. Within a couple of weeks, a brand new Maglite came in the mail. Maglite stands behind their product. They are serious about that lifetime warranty. You can't beat that, period.
A flashlight that you can own forever (if you don't lose it) for all of $10!
I've seen mine dropped from ladders, down hiking trails, off the top of a 6 foot fence....you name it, all sorts of heights. Sure, the bulb might break. You may even crack the lens. But you won't break the metal casing or the switch. Even if you drop them in water, you can dry them out, change the batteries, and still use them again.
As Hanukkah approaches, I've already decided to give all the kids Maglites this year. Just like I had when I was a kid. Back then, you were on top of the world if you had a Swiss Army Knife & a Mini-Maglite. Even as an adult, I can't go anywhere without a Leatherman Tool & Surefire G2 Nitrolon.
Not very bright. Cost of batteries will add up real fast. Starts off brighter, then dims & fades. Poor beam pattern with dark spots from filaments out of balance.
But still the best value for an all purpose light. Great to keep around in the kitchen drawer. Excellent for kids. Can't be beat for camping & fishing. This is by far the best flashlight I have ever used and I've had and still have many of assorted sizes, styles and shapes. It is also the heaviest flashlight I've ever used and that's not a bad thing. It won't fit in your pocket or lap top case but in a car or next to the bed, it can't be beat. On the other hand, should an invader move into your space, he/she can be beat-en by this hefty source of light. We've used it when the power has gone out, when searching for a diamond ring a neighbor lost when she threw a ball on the grass (we found it) and for seeing what was under a stove, sink and cable box, just to name a few instances where it's been superb. I've purchased rechargeable batteries for this and check them monthly, but also keep a supply of D Cell batteries on hand for times when it needs to be used for long periods. I'm still on the original bulb and enjoy the spare one stored in this housing. Now for additional uses -- I once was preparing a pie crust but could not find my rolling pin. Because I had used the flashlight in the kitchen the day before, I placed a clean plastic bag around the flashlight and while placing the bulb end of the flashlight over the edge of the counter top and not applying pressure near the on off button, used this as a rolling pin. It was amusing at first because the light kept going on and off with the pressure from the switch, but I corrected the pressure and was able to create a usable pie crust.

This is a solid flashlight and is great for everything from camping to simply navigating the house during a power outage. The beam is very powerful and adjustable from a focused beam to a spread out light. The batteries last for quite a while, and you won't have to buy replacements often. The case is solid and can even be used for self defense if the need ever arises. With the batteries in it, it makes a hefty club. There's also a spare light-bulb in the battery cap, just in case your bulb does ever happen to go out during your ownership of this flashlight(which it probably won't). So if you want a reliable and bright flashlight, this is for you. The only con is that it's kind of hefty, so if want something more portable, consider one of the smaller length mag-lites.

USA !!! For that, I wanted this to be my favorite. But there is a humongous (HUGE!) black hole in the center of the beam at any focus other than the tightest spot, which for me was an absolute deal buster. No brighter or better than my Rayovac 3-watt 3C unit, ($24 at Menards) which is great!,except for no focusing

These flashlights ended up being great. They are both Bright and light-weight, and extremely portable. The Aluminum frame means they aren't gonna crack like those cheap plastic ones. And in terms of price, they simple cannot be beat. You could purchase a half dozen of these for the price of one name brand flash light.
However, as many on here have stated, they don't have a great track record of working out of the box. Of the 6 I ordered, 4 worked perfectly out of the box, The other two were a little off. They would blink on and off as you tightened the battery caps on, but remained off once the cap was securely on. It occurred to me that there was a problem with the contacts. Since the Flashlights use the metal tube as one of the contact points, I went at the threads of the cap and the body in hopes that I could clean up the connection. Turns out it worked! Once I cleaned of some of the manufactures protective coating, I found the broken flashlights worked perfectly. I now have 6 fully functioning flashlights. I'd complain about that little inconvenience, but these are so cheap, even if you can only get 2 working, you'll have saved money off of the name brands.
Other then the complaint about the quality, it does have a few other minor flaws. I notice that these run relatively hot compared to some of the other flashlights I own. Also the strap that comes with these is barely big enough to fit three of my fingers through, really much less useful then a full wrist strap. I Can't testify to the longevity of these though, I've owned them for about 3 months and they all still work. We'll see how they hold up in the years to come.
Pros:
+Very Cheap
+Extremely Bright Light
+Light Weight
+Aluminium Frame
Cons:
-Some didn't work out of the box
-Tends to run a little hot
-Strap is mostly pointless

Pros: Very bright, good price
Cons: Two flashlights have 1 defective LED each. Still bright and practical despite it, but that means only 1 out of the 3 can be given as a gift (was planning 2)
TBD: just got them, so no idea about long term durability. Power efficiency should be good, as any LED is several times as efficient as a light bulb of the same brightness.

I don't know if I just got lucky, but all three of the lights I received worked perfectly...and have been for a few years now. I like to keep one of these wherever I need a little extra light...I have one in my closet to peek into shoe boxes or discern if that skirt is navy or black!, I have one in my lower kitchen cabinets to find the elusive lid to something way back in the corner or read what soup is in the can, I keep one in my car, drop one in my pocket when we go trick-or-treating, etc. etc. I even put one in some family members' Christmas stockings. They are just nifty, portable little lights to use anywhere, and cheap enough that you don't fret if you misplace one.

At first I was annoyed because only 1 of the 3 flashlights actually worked. But then I put some tightly folded aluminum foil in the spring so that the battery would make better contact with the spring....and voila, it worked!

one of the three never worked, another lasted few months, the third usually works... I paid them 9$ one year ago and it's already too much for the value.
